Mozambican murder suspects appear in court, case postponed till May

The men are expected to apply for bail when they return to court on 4th May.

 

Following the gruesome murder of Mozambican native, Emmanuel Sithole which was caught on camera and sparked ample outrage, the suspected murderers have made an appearance at the Alexandra Magistrate Court amidst heavy security presence.
Eye Witness News however reports that the case has been postponed to next month.
Three of the suspects had been arrested on Sunday, while the fourth was taken into custody last night (Monday)

In the past one week, the attention of the whole world has been drawn to the xenophobic attacks going on in South Africa where other African immigrants are being targeted by indigenes.
Black foreigners are being dehumanized, beaten, maimed, killed and their businesses and properties vandalized and burnt down.

This South African man, Sbonelo Mbatha (left) took to his Facebook page to tell a heartwarming story about his friend from Democratic Republic of Congo who lives in South Africa. His post has over 38,000 likes and shared more than 10,000 times.
This is my friend from DRC. He washes my car every time when I go to the gym and charges me R50. Even when I forget to lock the car, I'd never loose a cent when he is there! He pays R120 a day to hire the wash machine and sometimes looses his money when the weather turns rainy.

Zulu king whose remarks incited Xenophobic attacks appeals for calm

 

Zulu king Goodwill Zwelithini whose remarks incited Xenophobic attacks after saying "All foreigners must leave South Africa" has appealed for calm. Speaking with his subjects today April 20th in Durban, the king said his remarks were taken out of context.

Xenophobia: 6,000 Nigerians will lose their jobs if MTN leaves Nigeria

 
MTN Nigeria says about 6,000 Nigerians will lose their jobs if MTN is made to leave Nigeria. Head of Communications MTN, Mr Wale Goodluck said this while reacting to calls by a protest group in Edo state yesterday that the telecommunications offices in Nigeria will be shut and their installations attacked if the xenophobic attacks in South Africa continues.

The camp, housing displaced immigrants from all over Africa including Nigeria, was set up next to the Primrose Hill Police station in Germiston, dowtown Johannesburg.
 

In the wake of the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, thousands of immigrants have been forcefully evicted from their homes and have also abandoned their business.

Earlier on, many had sought refuge in their various countries' high commissions and also police stations. However, a camp Internally Displaced refugees has now been set up and currently hosts over 1,000 people including  children and pregnant women.

Police spokesman Lungelo Dlamini says residents in Alexandra played a big role, and also added that a hunt for the 4th suspect was on.
