A female kidnap kingpin whose name has been given as Bisi Babatunde alias Vivian, has told the Oyo State Police that her gang
operates like a big corporate organization with offices spread across
different states in Nigeria including Lagos, Port Harcourt, Benin,
Abuja, and still spreading.
Babatunde, a mother of
three and native of Awe, in Oyo State, was the brain behind the
kidnapping of a prominent business man in her hometown, Chief Festus
Omotoso, 78, the Chairman of Bond Chemicals Industry and the National
Life Vice President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce
and Industry Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).
Babatunde
who says she lives in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where she operates
as an herbal drug seller, told the police that she is a professional
kidnapper and she it was who organized the kidnap of the businessman.
Hear her:
"I have been involved in fraudulent activities by posing to be herbalist in Port Harcourt. I bought a car with the proceeds.
I
was involved in kidnapping in Port Harcourt but I was not fully
involved in this one. We have offices in Port Harcourt, Lagos and so on.
After returning home to Awe, I went to a brother called Laide and asked
him to do ‘juju’ for me.
He told me that
he knew Baba (Omotoso) and that I should call Lucky to come and kidnap
him because he had refused to settle his family for the death of his
brother in his (Omotoso’s) swimming pool.
I
was given N750,000 from the proceeds. Lucky said N5.5 million was
collected from the victim’s family. Everything was at Awo (a secret)
level."
